Rey Dayap’s journey from an introduction to successful Audiology Partner
7 May 2025

“Specsavers is not a business where we decide where the opportunities are; it’s driven by our partners’ needs.” – Amanda La Ferla, Specsavers Audiology.
For many audiology professionals, the journey to business ownership can seem daunting. But for Rey Dayap, his path to becoming a successful Specsavers Audiology partner in the Northern Territory began with a simple conversation in 2023.
Rey first met the Specsavers Audiology recruitment team at a national industry event, where he was drawn to Specsavers’ open and transparent approach to business ownership. At the time, he was exploring opportunities to take the next step in his career but hadn’t found the right fit, until he learned more about Specsavers’ unique joint venture model.
“From the first discussion, it was clear that Specsavers offered something different – an opportunity to own my own business without the overwhelming financial burden that often comes with it,” Rey says. “Their support structure and focus on customer care really resonated with me.”
The Specsavers difference
Recruitment specialists like Amanda La Ferla, Shelley Fenech, Nilofar Boudewyn and Paysh Wijesinghe, frequently meet audiology professionals who are unsure about business ownership.
Amanda says, “Our partners focus on delivering quality hearing care, trusting that when you put the needs of the customers first, business success naturally follows.”
Rey confirms that was a major factor in his decision. “I wanted a change. At Specsavers, I can concentrate on my customer’s needs and that’s how healthcare should be.”
Support every step of the way
For many potential partners, financial concerns can be a barrier to business ownership. However, Specsavers helps ease this transition by providing financial support, including a loan to help new partners invest in their business.
“Another big surprise was the financial model,” Rey recalls. “I assumed I’d need to front a huge sum, but Specsavers offered a structured pathway to ownership that made it far more accessible.”
In addition to financial backing, Specsavers partners receive a guaranteed base salary ($110,000 for audiologists and $100,000 for audiometrists), superannuation, fixed-term bonuses, as well as dividends for the life of their partnership. Specsavers also provides essential business services, such as marketing, administration, IT and financial management support.
Road to success
Since joining Specsavers Audiology in the Northern Territory, Rey has thrived as a business owner. He appreciates the strong community ties that come with operating a local audiology practice and the ability to shape his business while benefiting from Specsavers’ trusted brand.
“Specsavers has given me the freedom to run my clinic my way, but with the backing of a well-established company,” Rey says. “That balance of independence and support is what makes it such a great model.”
Now, Rey encourages others who are considering a similar path to take that first step. “If you’re curious about Specsavers Audiology, just reach out. The recruitment team is there to answer your questions without any pressure. That’s how my journey started, and it was one of the best decisions I’ve made.”
Whether meeting potential partners at conferences, holding one-on-one discussions, or simply answering enquiries from professionals exploring their options, the Specsavers Audiology team remains committed to supporting the next generation of successful audiology business owners.
