Ahmed Ali’s career from Audiologist to a Specsavers Partner
12 November 2024
Ahmed Ali is an enthusiastic Audiologist with a profound interest in spirituality, music, and physical health. Despite his dedication to his career, he finds solace in exploring new locations around Victoria and cherishing moments with his family.
Educationally, he boasts a Bachelor of Science degree with a focus on Pharmacology and Neuroscience, which he completed in conjunction with a Master of Clinical Audiology. His journey into audiology stemmed from a lifelong passion for healthcare, coupled with a profound interest in music and hearing.
After completing his education, Ahmed embarked on his career with an internship in regional NSW, followed by employment at Specsavers in Bendigo. His tenure with Specsavers extended to metro Melbourne, where he transitioned from an employee to a partner in October 2023.
When asked about the importance of customer care in audiology, Ahmed emphasises its significance stating, “Customers can discern if they are being rushed or not heard attentively, impacting their overall experience and satisfaction.”
Highlighting the consequences of hearing loss, Ahmed stresses the social isolation and deteriorating mental health as significant challenges individuals face. He highlights the transformative impact of hearing aids, which enhance communication, support independence, and improve the overall quality of life.
“Before I joined Specsavers I was aware of the affordability of their hearing aids compared to other providers, despite utilising the same manufacturers,” he says.
When he reflects on his journey to becoming a Partner at Specsavers, Ahmed credits his two years of employment experience at Specsavers for easing him into the transition of business owner. Whilst his original perception of Specsavers has evolved since his initial encounter in 2021, he confirms has gained a deeper understanding of career progression and the business model’s efficacy.
“The Specsavers’ approach fosters a sense of ownership and business motivation among audiology professionals, which ultimately drives business growth,” he says.
Now as a second partner at Highpoint, Moonee Ponds, and Brunswick, Ahmed has embraced his role as partner and looks forward to the stability and certainty that ownership offers.
Whilst he foresees managing performance across the multiple stores as a challenge – he notes they are not an obstacle to success. As a second partner, he has the backing of the support office team, and from his audiology partner Loretta Brown with whom he shares the workload. This arrangement has presented an excellent opportunity to test the dynamics of partnership.
Ahmed recommends Specsavers as an ideal organisation for audiologists seeking partnership opportunities and stresses the support and guidance offered to those committed to the field and aspiring business ownership.
As he continues his journey as a Specsavers Partner, he looks to the future, as he aspires to strengthen his store’s connections within the local community.
