Is relocation your next career frontier? Find out what it did for these partners.

Sometimes the perfect job isn’t down the street, but rather hundreds of kilometres away, or in another state completely. But when it comes to opening and running your own business, relocating to a new place can be the start of a dream come true.
Just ask these Specsavers Audiology partners.
Following the birth of her third child, Alison Harman was seeking a new challenge which included both a clinical and business role. Interested in partnership, she not only took the plunge on running her own business, she also fulfilled her life-long dream of a sea change.
“Specsavers gave me not only a new career opportunity, but a new lifestyle for my family. When I relocated to Port Macquarie, I was offered financial assistance to support the move, and the opportunity to meet up with an existing audiology partner on the Mid-North Coast to get a feel of what the role would be like,” says Alison.
For partner Abdul Teia who owns Specsavers Nuriootpa and Clare in South Australia, regional life was always on the agenda.
“I worked in Port Lincoln during my internship, and since then, I have always loved working in regional areas. I feel customers are more relaxed and willing to share personal life stories and are more open about hearing needs and expectations,” adds Abdul.
Relocating more than 600 kilometres from his current life was a scary prospect, but Abdul says he is loving the pace of life in Nuriootpa.
“Apart from the tight-knit community, I love how there’s no more city traffic. I enjoy the drive and scenery of country roads and farms. I love working with staff who are locals from the community. They are super friendly and always make me feel part of the community.”
