For Helen Anderson, opening two Specsavers stores in regional Victoria was a no-brainer.
There were two things Helen was looking to achieve by becoming a partner – the ability to serve customers in a regional location and the chance to develop her commercial acumen as a business owner.
Becoming the audiology partner at Specsavers Benalla and Wangaratta has given her the opportunity to achieve both those things simultaneously.
“I was inspired to become an audiologist because I enjoy working with people and I enjoy the health science area, so after looking into a few other careers I believed being an audiologist would be a good match for me. And it has been, I really enjoy the people connection my work gives me.”
“Hearing loss can impact individuals in different ways. Often, we see people who are reducing the activities they have enjoyed as it becomes more and more difficult to hear. It seems simple, but fitting people with hearing aids improve their quality of life. I often see people who feel greater confidence and are keen to enjoy the things in life that are important to them,” she says.
Initially, it was Specsavers’ open approach about pricing for customers that first attracted Helen to partnership.
Her desire to be more transparent with the cost of hearing aids and being able to support her customers with great technology no matter the price point they could afford led her to make some initial enquiries.
Once she met with the Specsavers team, she realised that partnership would also provide her with the opportunity to develop a greater business understanding and grow her commercial and business skills – all while remaining in a regional area and supporting her local community.
Now, with just over a month under her belt, there’s no looking back.
“I’m really looking forward to providing hearing services to communities in regional Victoria and doing more to support my local community.”
